My grandson Cade Austin Jones was born 6/29/22 with Distal Trisomy 10q. Diagnosis: 10q11.21q24.2 partial. Prior to Cade's birth during a sonogram, it was identified that he has cleft lip. Due to the potential complications, it was decided to not have an amniocentesis. From the day Cade was born his parents have worshiped and adored him. He is a light of pure joy to his entire family and so so very loved. When Cade was born he had a very low birth weight, bilateral cleft lip, cleft palate, feeding difficulties, very tiny ears, his hands stayed in a tight ball, his toes curled under and exhibited other traits of Trisomy. After a couple months in NICU, the doctors informed us he has Trisomy 13 and would not survive long and chromosomal testing was performed. We were very thankful when the results came back as Trisomy 10 weeks later. Albeit not optimal we were thankful when the results came back as Trisomy 10 weeks later. Based on the information we were provided, Cade had a better chance of survival. Cade is now 3 and has had multiple surgeries and hospitalizations for various illnesses and is delayed cognitively and developmentally. Surgeries: Aortic coarctation repair, cleft lip repair, cleft palate repair, post operatively hematoma in palate, he has a G-button since birth, tubes in one ear (other ear canal too small for placement) and currently not eating food by mouth, he still gets gagged very easily. Cade is unable to crawl and walk yet. He tires very easily and gets out of breath. Currently, Cade says very few words (Momma, Dadda, hi, yeah, uhuh), he was non-verbal and didn't cry until he was over one year old. Cade works hard in his therapies and has improved tremendously. He is able to open his hands now and grab the tiniest of things. He has ankle, foot orthotics (AFO) and is able to stand up for short periods of time against objects/furniture and currently working very hard on aided side-stepping, his legs are very, very strong. He will sit up independently for short periods of time (his comfort is to hyperextend). Cade is not crawling yet due to his upper body strength. Although, he has a very strong core and he loves to do crunches. He has made great strides with therapy. Cade's favorite things are music and lights. It's really cute how he taps one foot to the beat of the song. Cade is the happiest little boy with an amazing disposition. He wakes up smiling every day, he'll just start laughing throughout the day (many times we have no idea why). At bedtime when he's just about to fall asleep he cracks up laughing and then just conks out. It's absolutely adorable.
