My name is Åsa Lindh and I live in Sweden in a town named Hallstahammar. Me and my
husband have three children 2 girls and 1 boy. The girls are 8 and 5 years old and "normal". The
little boy, named Simon, was born in November of 2001. When Simon was 11 month old
he got epilepsy and we went to the hospital. The doctors did not know what was wrong
with him until now. In January we found out that he has trisomy 10q. I have searched on
the web for children with the same diagnosis but not until now found your homepage
and I'm glad I did! Simon is a wonderful little boy, his difficulties are that he is
late in his development, he is mentally retarded but we do not yet know hom much,
hopefully his only mildly retarded. He has problems with his fine motor and balance.
He does not speak yet but we are going to learn us to speak with signs. He is always
happy and everybody who meets him think he is charming!
Update Feb, 2007
Simon is doing just fine. He has some problem with his left leg which is shorter than
the right leg (about 1,5-2 cm) and his left knee is not OK, but there is nothing you can
do about it when his growing. In the spring we will check his heart and then they will
say if they are going to operate or not.
